We used Tunxi as a base for Huangshan instead of Tangkou. In general it’s a bustling, small, dirty Chinese city but it does have a really nice area, albeit touristy, called ‘Old Street’ with really nice old style Ming dynasty buildings.
We had a wander around, found some nice street buns or baozi in Chinese.
They’re steamed in here.
We found an old guy who makes wonton food, apparently he’s the 12th generation of his family to make wontons in this town.
The rest of the time we admired the neon lights and the buildings.
And we found a nice picture of an elephant of course.
There’s a particularly good top choice in the Lonely Planet here. The restaurant called ‘Meishi Renjia’ was amazing and cheaper than usual!
We caught the sleeper train to Shanghai. This is the train station area after a quick rainstorm.
