Elephant trunk hill is a cool little park by the Li river in Guilin.
It’s built around this mountain which looks like an elephant dipping it’s trunk in the river for a drink.
As you can see, there’s a cave which is supposed to be it’s eye although this looked pretty man made, you could see the drill lines!
You can get right up on top of the rock and look out over Guilin city and beyond.
Onto the boats chugging up and down the river with tourists and over to the mystic shadows of the mountains on the horizon.
You’re not allowed to stride up there though.
The rest of the place is on the flat and is an excellent place to people watch.
Soph takes the best pictures of people! Disclaimer – Pete wrote that.
These young girls were dressed in the traditional dress of a Chinese ethnic minority as is the fashion at most Chinese tourist destinations.
We saw some gazebos in the river with people eating snacks, this was something that we couldn’t pass up.
The current was pretty strong and occasionally some young boys would come floating past, crying out with joy!
This couple were really enjoying each other’s company that day..
There’s some really cool little elephant statues in the park.
It was really nice to be amongst people splashing around and enjoying the water, we also observed people buying goldfish and putting them in the river. Not sure why that happens but there you go.
There’s always one poser!
